The National Association of Basketball Coaches selected recent College of Wooster graduate Scott Purcell to its 2013-14 Honors Court, which celebrates men's basketball student-athletes who have excelled academically, as announced by the coaches organization Monday.

As a senior, Purcell had his best season on the hardwood. After injuries severely limited his playing time most of his career, the 6-2 swingman gained a spot in the starting lineup for the nationally-ranked Fighting Scots and produced 6.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per night. The majority of his scoring came from the 3-point line, connecting on 41.7 percent there, and Purcell's leadership spurred Wooster to a 26-4 record, the North Coast Athletic Conference championship (16-2), and a No. 10 final ranking (D3hoops.com).

In the classroom, Purcell graduated with a 3.20 grade-point average while majoring in business economics and was a member of the Dean's List.
