The College of Wooster was involved in a pair of low-scoring affairs during its two-game swing in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, as the Fighting Scots first put the defensive clamps on St. Mary's College of Maryland during a 49-35 victory on Sunday evening, then lost to Salisbury University 67-50 Monday inside the Coliseo Rubén Rodriguez.

The 35 points that Wooster (5-3) allowed Sunday was the least amount an opponent scored in a game in 20 years, dating back to when the Fighting Scots dispatched Dickinson University 86-31 on Dec. 28, 1995. It also marked the first time Wooster had been involved in a game in which neither team reached the 50-point mark since a 47-45 victory over Manchester University in the second round of the 2011 NCAA Div. III Men's Basketball Championship.

The one player who didn't struggle offensively was Dan Fanelly, as he accounted for nearly half of the Scots' scoring with a season-high 24 points on 11-of-18 field goals.

Ten of Fanelly's points came during the first half, helping Wooster to a 23-16 lead. The second stanza played out similarly, with the Scots outscoring St. Mary's (5-4) by a 26-18 count, including the 14 by Fanelly.

Another slow offensive half doomed Wooster on Monday, as Salisbury (7-2), which has been in and out of the D3hoops.com top-25 national rankings, held the Scots to 19 points over the opening 20 minutes and resulted in a 14-point halftime deficit (33-19).

Wooster fell behind by as much as 65-43 before its offense came around late and eventually produced 31 second-half points in the eventual 17-point setback.

Fanelly again led all players in scoring, this time tallying 16 points, while teammate Spencer Williams chipped in 14.
