Mitch Balser and Milt Davis combined to go a perfect 7-of-7 from 3-point range, pacing The College of Wooster to a season-high 14 makes from behind the arc as the Fighting Scots rolled past Allegheny College 92-74 during Wednesday night's North Coast Athletic Conference action in Meadville, Pa.

Wooster (18-6, 14-3 NCAC), which remains tied with Ohio Wesleyan University atop the conference, now will play for at least a share of the NCAC championship this Saturday.

Allegheny (3-21, 3-14 NCAC) and Wooster were both efficient on offense throughout much of the opening half. The Scots' defense, though, helped key a 15-5 run to close the half, turning a 33-29 lead into a more comfortable 48-34 margin at intermission. Over the last five minutes, Wooster forced the Gators into three turnovers and 1-for-6 shooting from the floor while Spencer Williams accounted for six of those 15 points.

The Scots maintained a double-digit advantage the entirety of the second half, and eventually pulled away around the nine-minute mark. Ahead 70-56 at that juncture, Wooster proceeded to outscore the Gators 13-4, including six points from Reece Dupler, to effectively seal the outcome.

Statistically, the Scots shot above 50 percent from the field (.515; 35-for-68) for the fourth time in six games, highlighted by those 14 3-pointers out of 26 attempts (.538), while Allegheny finished just shy of 50 percent overall (.464; 26-for-56). Wooster also won the rebounding battle, 38-29, and committed eight turnovers to the Gators' 15.

While Balser's and Davis's hot shooting led to 16 and 12 points, respectively, Dan Fanelly led the Scots with a 20-point night. Also in double figures were Williams, who tallied 15 markers in the scorebook and  Alex LaLonde, who added 14.

Balser led the team's rebounding efforts with seven boards and Dupler dished six assists.

Billy Urso connected on six 3-pointers as part of a 20-point night for Allegheny.

The Scots will now turn their attention to Oberlin College (12-12, 7-10 NCAC). Assuming Ohio Wesleyan beats ninth-place DePauw University at home that afternoon, Wooster will attempt to be NCAC co-champions. Please note there was a recent change for Saturday's tip-off, as it will be at 5 p.m. after originally being scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
