Fresh off a run to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Div. III Men's Basketball Championship, Spencer Williams of The College of Wooster was named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Second Team, the website announced on Monday.

As a sophomore, Williams shifted from point guard to shooting guard, providing a consistent scoring threat while making significant strides in other areas of his game. He was Wooster's leading scorer throughout the regular season and finished at 14.5 points per game, to go with 3.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.0 steals. Notable, he was the lone Fighting Scot to start all 32 games and spent the most time on the court, averaging 28.8 minutes.

Chief among his season highlights, Williams sank two free throws with 0.7 seconds remaining to lift Wooster past then-No. 7 ranked Ohio Wesleyan University 91-90 on Jan. 27, a victory that ultimately helped force a tie for the North Coast Athletic Conference regular season championship between the two teams. During the NCAA tourney, he scored a team-high 19 points in the quarterfinals and also tossed in 19 over 42 minutes played in the teams' second-round comeback victory, 91-83 versus Endicott College. Over a five-game span from Jan. 6-20, Williams made 13-of-16 3-pointers (.813), and he scored a career-high 25 points against Kenyon College on Feb. 3.

In addition to being NCAC co-champs, Williams helped lead the Scots to their 20th consecutive 20-win season (24-8) and a Div. III record 14th NCAA Tournament appearance in a row, which resulted in three wins for their first quarterfinal appearance since 2011.
