You may notice on Saturday that members of the 21st-ranked College of Wooster men's basketball team are wearing gold shoelaces on their basketball sneakers, and that's because the Fighting Scots are taking part in Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer.

Originally started in 2011 at the request of youth soccer teams in New Jersey, teams across the country show their commitment to the fight against pediatric cancer by purchasing special gold laces. Four dollars from every pair of the $5.00 laces plus 100 percent of donations goes back to helping kids with cancer and their families in the state the funds are raised.

Additionally, members of Wooster's coaching staff will be wearing sneakers next week as part of the National Association of Basketball Coaches' annual Suits and Sneakers Week. Over 25 years ago, the NABC teamed with the American Cancer Society, and for one week each season, college and high school coaches across the nation wear sneakers with their suits during games to raise awareness for Coaches vs. Cancer and the fight against cancer. Since its inception, Coaches vs. Cancer has raised over $115 million to support the American Cancer Society and save lives.
