Alumnus Pedon Tabbed to Lead Illinois State’s Men’s Basketball Program

Ryan Pedon, College of Wooster basketball Ryan Pedon, a 2000 alumnus of The College of Wooster, has accepted the position of head men's basketball coach at Div. I Illinois State University.

"The Wooster basketball family is proud of Ryan," shared head coach Doug Cline, who coached Pedon during his time as a Fighting Scot. "Ryan is very deserving of this opportunity. He is an outstanding coach and person. Illinois State men's basketball is in great hands."

Pedon has spent five years at The Ohio State University, helping the Buckeyes to a 106-54 record with a NCAA Tournament berth during each season in Columbus. Ohio State has ranked as high as second in the AP Top-25 poll during Pedon's time in Columbus. Prior to Ohio State, Pedon has coaching stops at Miami University (Ohio) (2000-02, 2005-10), Kent State University (2002-05), University of Toledo (2010-13), University of Illinois (2013-15), Butler University (2015-17).

As a player, Pedon was a three-year letterwinner for the Scots. Wooster won three regular season NCAC championships, three NCAC Tournament titles, and advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Div. III Championships during his junior and senior years. He played on teams that went 96-19.

Pedon is the fifth known Wooster alum to lead a Div. I men's program joining L.W. St. John '06 (Ohio State, 1911-19), Reggie Minton '63 (Dartmouth College, 1983-84, United States Air Force Academy, 1984-00), Larry Shyatt '73 (University of Wyoming, 1997-98 & 2011-16, Clemson University, 1998-03), and Lamont Paris '96 (University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, 2017-present).
