Sword's Top-10 Finish Paces Scots at OAC Fall Invitational

For the third time this season sophomore Blake Sword shot a round of 75 or lower, this time leading The College of Wooster’s golf team to a ninth place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Fall Invitational hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College this weekend.

Sword shot a 79 on Sunday, and then followed it up with a three-over par 75 on Monday, to earn an eighth-place tie individually with his two-round total of 154 strokes. Leading the way were Mount Union College’s Scott Miller, who shot a 72 and 75 (147) and Ben Adams who shot two rounds of 74 (148) for first place winning Otterbein College.

Also scoring for the Fighting Scots was Greg Benckart, who shot a season-best 80 on Monday to total 165 strokes and end in a 36th place tie. Michael Peters tied for 53rd with rounds of 85 and 89 (174), while Tim Golding (183) and Tim Sullivan (186) rounded out Wooster’s starters.

The Scots will tee-off next at the Hiram Fall Invitational at Hawk’s Nest Golf Club in nearby Creston, Ohio, on Sept. 26-27.
