The College of Wooster's men's golf team got off to a strong start at the Strimer Memorial Invitational, as it sat in a third-place tie out of 15 teams after Saturday's opening 18 holes, but it didn't shoot quite as well Sunday, which resulted in an 11th-place finish at the highly-competitive gathering at Oak Haven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.

Wooster was one of only three programs at the Invite to have all five of its members shoot in the 70's on Saturday. The remarkably balanced effort was highlighted by Marcus Carano, who shot a 74 on day one and followed it with a 75 on Sunday to tie for ninth overall with a combined score of 149.

T.J. Selby made the biggest improvement for the Fighting Scots, as he was fifth on the squad with a 79 on Saturday, but bounced back for a team-best 74 on Sunday to finish with a 153.

Rounding out Wooster's score card was Calvin Milligan's 76-84 (160), Scott Sears' 77-85 (162), and Michael Bay's 77-86 (163).

Wooster shot a 304-318 to finish at 622 strokes, which wasn't too far off fellow North Coast Athletic Conference school's Kenyon College (615) and host Ohio Wesleyan University (611), who finished seventh and fifth, respectively. Wittenberg University's 578 was good for the team championship.

Next weekend, the Scots will compete in the Ted Barclay Invitational at Granville, Ohio.
