Through the initial 36 holes of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series, The College of Wooster men's golf team sits in seventh-place, just seven strokes out of fourth, as action wrapped up Sunday afternoon at the Twin Bridges Golf Club at Danville, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots were consistent on Saturday and Sunday, as they shots nearly identical rounds of 318 and 322 over the par-72, 7,036-yard course. That gave them a 640 team score, which is seven strokes more than fourth-place Denison University (633), and 18 strokes off the pace of second-place Allegheny College (622). Out in front is Wittenberg University, which is ranked fifth in the nation, with a 607.

Competing among a field of 44 golfers, sophomores Marcus Carano and Calvin Milligan stood out for Wooster, as both placed in the top quarter of the group. Carano shot a five-over par 77 on day one and added a 78 on day two, resulting in a 10th-place score of 155. He excelled on par-4's, as he averaged the lowest score on those holes (4.10) of everyone at the event.

Milligan was right there with Carano, carding a 78-79 (157), which has him tied with two others for 11th. Next in line is T.J. Selby, who was Wooster's only competitor to improve his score on the second 18, shooting an 82-80 (162). Rounding out those contributing towards the Scots' team score were Scott Sears (81-85) and Michael Bay (86-86).

Wooster will look to climb the standings when it competes in the second portion of the NCAC Championship Series, which takes place next weekend at the Crawfordsville Country Club in Crawfordsville, Ill.
