The College of Wooster men's golf team kept within striking distance of two of the top programs in the Great Lakes Region at the three-team Ted Barclay Invitational, as the Fighting Scots carded a 607 at the two-day, 36-hole event, which wasn't far off the pace set by host Denison University (585) and Kenyon College (603) at the Denison Golf Club in Granville, Ohio.

Scott Sears and Marcus Carano were among the best competitors over the weekend, with third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively, in a field of 25 golfers.

Sears was just one-over par both days, with matching 72's, giving him a 144, while Carano shot three-over par on Saturday (74) and two-over par on Sunday (73) to card a similarly low 147.

Calvin Milligan had an uncharacteristic opening round (84), but bounced back in a big way with a two-over par 73 on Sunday to secure 14th-place with a 157. Also contributing towards Wooster's team score were Brenden Tully with a 163 (79-84) and Jackson Groat with a 169 (80-89), both whom shot significantly better in their opening rounds.

The Scots host their own Nye Intercollegiate next weekend at the Wooster Country Club.
