The College of Wooster delivered a strong second 18 holes on Monday, totaling the second-lowest round among the nine men's golf teams competing at Allegheny College's Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational, which allowed the Fighting Scots to jump from seventh- to fifth-place in the final standings of the annual event held at The Country Club of Meadville in Meadville, Pa.

After scoring 319 as a team during Sunday's opening 18, Wooster bounced back with a 301, as three of its starters, plus a fourth playing as an individual, shot in the low- to mid-70s. The 620 total placed the Scots right in the middle of the competitive field, which included host and tournament champion Allegheny (587) and NCAA Div. II Clarion University (607).

Wooster's No. 1 player, Marcus Carano, posted a two-over 74 over the second 18 at the par-72, 6809-yard course in northeastern Pennsylvania, and paired with his opening 79, the senior standout tied for 10th overall (153).

Also contributing to the team score both days were senior Calvin Milligan and freshman Raghu Bir Choudhary. Milligan turned in an 80 and a 76 for a 20th-place tie (156) in the individual standings, while Choudhary improved four strokes on Monday as well via a 78, following an 82, as he tied for 30th (160).

Freshman Charlie Holt, playing on his home course, recorded the Scots' lowest round on Sunday (78), and classmate Andrew DeLaat did so on Monday (73). Overall, Holt tied for 41st (161) and DeLaat finished alone in 23rd-place.

Outside of the starting lineup, Ric Reynolds, another member of the first-year class, stood out. In fact, he was part of the 10th-place tie (153) with Carano via scores of 78 and 75.

This Saturday, Wooster will play a one-day event, the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted at Grey Hawk Golf Club in Lagrange, Ohio.
