Playing a weather-shortened tournament for the second weekend in a row, The College of Wooster men's golfers finished fifth as they were among a tightly-grouped middle pack during 18 holes of Denison University's eight-team Ted Barclay Invitational, which took place Sunday at the par-71 Denison Golf Club at Granville.

After Saturday's round was snowed out due to the unusual winter weather that hit most of Ohio, the Fighting Scots battled through tough conditions en route to a 313 team score, just one stroke behind host Denison (312) for a spot in the top half of the field. Kenyon College won the event with a 292, while the second-to-sixth-place finishers – four also being North Coast Athletic Conference schools – were all within 14 shots of each other.

Navigating the 6,559-yard course most effectively for Wooster was senior Marcus Carano, who fired a three-over 74 to tie for fifth among the 48 competitors. It marked the fifth top-10 in seven events this season for the Scots' No. 1.

Wooster's three other team scorers were separated by just one stroke. Andrew DeLaat continued his strong freshman season with a 79, good for a 24th-place tie, while junior Scott Sears and sophomore Brenden Tully cared matching 80s.

The Scots have just one more tune-up – next weekend's Rosencrans-Maurer Invitational in Springfield, Ohio – prior to the 72-hole North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
