The College of Wooster men's golf team matched its low round of the year with a 298 on Monday to climb from fifth to third at the Rosencrans-Maurer Invitational held at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.

Wooster, who had a 304 on Sunday and a 602 for the two-day tournament, started the day in fifth, but were just four shots back of a top-three spot. The Scots made that distance up - and then some - to finish four strokes clear of fourth-place Capital University's 606.

Sixth-ranked Wittenberg University cruised to the team win on its home course, posting a collective 11-under-par 565.

Otterbein University's Adam Crider earned medalist honors at the par-72, 6708-yard course with a 5-under-par 139.

Charlie Holt led the Scots with a 3-over-par 147 to tie for 11th. The freshman had a very consistent tournament shooting 74 and 73.

Wooster's second and third men in Andrew DeLaat and Brenden Tully really helped Wooster bounce back on Monday and climb up to third in the team standings.

DeLaat had an eight-stroke improvement on Monday to turn in the team's second-lowest round of the day at 74. He tied for 34th for the tournament with a 156.

Tully also had a big improvement on Monday, trimming five strokes off of his Sunday round. Tully went 80-75-155 for the tournament to tie for 32nd.

Marcus Carano tied for 16th in the 65-man field with a 73 on Sunday followed by a 76 on Monday for a 149.

Scott Sears rounded out the lineup tying for 28th. Sears was also very consistent with a 77-76-153.

Raghu Bir Choudhary led a trio of Scots playing as individuals with a 157 to tie for 38th. Notable, the freshman fired even-par on Monday.

Next, Wooster opens play in the North Coast Athletic Championship Series on Saturday with the first of two rounds played at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Streetsboro, Ohio.
