Wooster Sixth After First Event of NCAC Men's Golf Championship Series

The College of Wooster men's golf team fired a 633 on the weekend, and sits in sixth, as the first event of the two-weekend, 72-hole North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship Series came to a close at the par-72, 6,971-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club at Streetsboro, Ohio on Sunday.

Wooster shot a 314 on Saturday, the team's lowest opening-round score since the 2013 tournament. The Fighting Scots followed with a 319 on Sunday.

Eighth-ranked Wittenberg University has distanced itself from the nine-team field with a 3-over-par 579 for the weekend. Allegheny College, who was at even-par as a team on Saturday, could not get going on Sunday and sits at 594.

Marcus Carano led the Scots on the weekend with a 155 and is tied for 16th. Carano, who had an uncharacteristic 81 on Saturday, bounced back with a 74 on Sunday.

Andrew DeLaat had the most consistent weekend for Wooster. The freshman carded a 160, turning in back-to-back 80s and is tied for 26th.

Brenden Tully is tied for 29th after a 161 for the 36 holes contested this weekend. Tully opened with a 78 on Saturday, and shot an 83 on Sunday.

Charlie Holt went 80-82-162 and is tied for 31st.

Scott Sears rounded out the lineup. Sears sits in 36th at 165. The junior turned in the team low round of 76 on Saturday.

Wooster hosts the final 36 holes of the NCAC Golf Championship Series next weekend at the Wooster Country Club. The Scots will tee off at 8:38 a.m. on Saturday.
