The College of Wooster men's golf team was in the mix with a stellar 303 on Saturday, but the Fighting Scots couldn't follow up with a second consistent round, as the Black and Gold shot a 317 on Sunday and finished in eighth-place with a 36-hole score of 620 at the Defiance College Spring Invitational, held at the par-70, 6140-yard Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance, Ohio.

Wooster's four scorers all shot below 80 on Saturday, but it was senior Brenden Tully who stole the show while playing as part of the "B" team. Tully opened with a 1-over-par 71, and finished in a tie for 12th-place at 148 after a 77 on Sunday.

First-year Colin O'Hern also had a 71 on his Saturday card, but the steady rookie had an atypical 85 on Sunday and tied for 40th-place at 156. O'Hern's final round did get off to a strong start with a birdie on the first hole.

Last week's hero Jimmy Hinton was the Scots' top scorer in the lineup on the weekend. The sophomore continued his stretch of consistent play with back-to-back 77s and tied for 32nd-place. Hinton played Sunday's front nine at even-par thanks to a birdie on the par-4 eighth hole that came right after a bogey on No. 7.

Sophomore Evan Ferrara's Sunday round was off to a roaring start with a birdie on the par-4 first hole, and another birdie on No. 5 led to Ferrara shooting even-par on the front nine. Ferrara followed up a 77 with a 78 and tied for 37th-place at 155.

First-year David Roney improved by two strokes from Saturday to Sunday and tied for Wooster's low round over the final 18 holes at 77. Roney finished at 156 and tied for 40th-place. The Scots' rookie had a team-high three birdies on his Sunday scorecard.

Junior Ric Reynolds rounded out Wooster's lineup with a 165. His top round on the weekend was a 78 on Saturday.

Mount Saint Joseph University won the team title at 584, while Ohio Northern University's Zach Goodchild captured medalist honors at 1-over-par.

Next, Wooster competes in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, set to take place April 27-29 at Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield, Ohio.
