MANSFIELD, Ohio – First-year Colin O'Hern remains tied for fifth-place overall with a team-low 74 as The College of Wooster men's golf enters Saturday's second round in sixth-place out of nine teams at 307 following the opening round of the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at the par-72, 6910-yard Westbrook Country Club.

O'hern birdied the par-5 No. 8 and par-3 No. 9 to finish with an even-36 through the opening nine after bogies on the 319-yard par-4 No. 2 and 160-yard par-3 No. 6. After five consecutive pars on No. 10 through 14, a pair of par-4 bogies set the first-year two shots over entering Saturday's round, the second of three for the conference championships.

Sophomore Evan Ferrara turned in one birdie and five bogies on the day, highlighted by a one-over-par 37 on the back-nine to finish at 76, good for a 12th-place tie overall. After three bogies on the front nine, the sophomore out of Kent, Ohio got back to two-over with a birdie on the 427-yard par-4 No. 13, but finished with bogies on two of the last five holes.

First-year David Roney remains tied for 19th overall with an opening-round 78. The Fighting Scot newcomer opened plus-four over the front nine and finished just two-over on the back nine, headlined by a pair of par-4 birdies on No. 13 and the 447-yard No. 15. Closing just one shot back of Roney was senior teammate Brenden Tully, who turned in a 79. Tully's up-and-down round was epitomized by a bogey on the 516-yard No. 12, followed by a hole-out eagle on No. 13, only to be capped off with a double bogey on the 379-yard par-4 No. 14. Tully's two on No. 13 marked the Scots' lone eagle of the round.

First-year Jimmy Hinton closed out the Scots' first-round showing with an 81. Hinton ended the front nine with two straight pars after four consecutive bogies before going plus-five on holes 11 through 16.
