The College of Wooster men's golf team improved by seven strokes on Sunday, and in doing so captured first place at the Miami University Hamilton Harriers Fall Classic, held at Browns Run Country Club in Middletown, Ohio this weekend.

Wooster entered Sunday two strokes behind Indiana University East, but the Fighting Scots' 296 over the final 18 holes bested the Red Wolves' 302, and gave the Black and Gold a four-stroke victory at 599.

Junior Evan Ferrara and sophomore David Roney tied for second-place at 149. Ferrara opened play with a 75 on Saturday, and went on to secure his second top-five finish of the year with a 74 on Sunday. Roney carded the Scots' low round of the weekend with a 72 over the final 18 holes, and that marked a five-stroke improvement from Saturday's round. Noteworthy, the runner-up showing marked Roney's first career top-five finish.

Junior Jimmy Hinton rounded out the trio of Scots on the all-tournament team. Hinton's 151 marked the fifth-best score of the weekend. Hinton opened with a 76 on Saturday, and closed with a 75 on Sunday.

First-year Ben Foltz tied for 10th-place with a 154. Foltz charged up the leaderboard with a 75 over the final 18 holes after posting a 79 on Saturday.

Junior Mac Bellovich rounded out the Scots lineup with a 158 and placed 21st. Bellovich's 75 on Saturday tied for the team low, and the junior wrapped up play with an 83 on Sunday.

Senior Andrew DeLaat competed as an individual and shot a 159 to place 22nd.

Indiana East's Tyler Pearson was the medalist with a 145.

The tournament win marked the first for Wooster since it won the Earlham College Fall Invitational on Oct. 1, 2017.

Wooster closes out its fall season at the Wabash College Fall Classic, set to be contested Oct. 6-7 at Crawfordsville Country Club in Crawfordsville, Ind.
