The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team went back-and-forth with Oberlin College until midway through the third quarter, when the Fighting Scots ended the game on a 4-0 scoring run and notched a 9-5 victory in a North Coast Athletic Conference tilt Wednesday evening at Oberlin, Ohio.

Neither team led by more than one goal until the final seconds of the first half, when Matt Pullara dished to Joe Suliman with :05 remaining on the clock to give the Scots (4-7, 1-2 NCAC) a 5-3 advantage.

Oberlin (2-8, 0-4 NCAC) responded early in the third quarter with goals from Connor Jackson and Dylan Holmes to tie the game 5-5. Moments later, Jake Bernard scored on a Matt Rubin assist, which sparked a sudden three-goal spurt over a 3:02 span. Patrick Schlick and Suliman added the other two scores, and Wooster took an 8-5 leading into the fourth quarter.

About midway through the fourth, Rubin added another insurance goal, and the Scots kept Oberlin off the scoreboard to record the 9-5 win margin. Ironically, Oberlin led Wooster 15-7 in shot attempts in the second half, but the Scots made the most of their opportunities. Also noteworthy, goalkeeper Matt Magoon was key in sealing the outcome, as he made five of his nine saves in the fourth quarter.

Offensively, Suliman (3 goals), Rubin (2 goals, 1 assist), Pullara (1 goal, 2 assists), and Schlick (1 goal, 2 assists) recorded three points each, while Bernard and Nathan Pagniano added Wooster's other two scores.

Next up, Wooster will host Wittenberg University (9-0, 2-0 NCAC) under the lights on Friday (April 22) at 7 p.m.
