Pat McKay completed his hat trick with 1:37 remaining in regulation on a critical goal that halted Sewanee's comeback bid and gave The College of Wooster an 11-9 victory over the Tigers during spring break action Wednesday evening at Sewanee, Tenn.

The Fighting Scots (4-0) built a three-goal cushion early in the second quarter when they scored three times during a 2:03-span, including Jake Bernard's second and third goals of the game, which put them ahead 4-1.

Wooster continued to pull away as it led 8-4 late in the third quarter, but Sewanee (3-2) made things interesting down the stretch. The Tigers went on a 5-2 scoring run, with Davis Brown drawing the hosts within one (10-9) with 1:45 to go.

Just eight seconds later, Wooster netted the insurance goal it needed. First Max Rubin won the face-off and dished the ball to Tom Herold, and then Herold assisted on McKay's third tally to give the Scots their 11-9 margin.

Herold led the team in points with three assists and one goal, while Bernard and McKay each scored three times in the win. Also noteworthy, Niall Cronin registered his first goal of the season and third of his career.

PJ Dallman and Sean Hohan tied for the team lead with six groundballs apiece, while the latter added a game-high five caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Matt Magoon made 10 saves.

The Scots will look to keep their winning streak alive when they battle another Tennessee team, Rhodes College (6-2), on Friday at 7 p.m.
