The College of Wooster matched its best start to a season in six years Friday evening with a decisive 11-3 win over Rhodes College, as the Fighting Scots wrapped up their out-of-state spring break slate at Crain Field in Memphis, Tenn.

Rhodes (6-3) entered the game with six wins and two narrow one-goal losses on its resume, but the Scots (5-0) scored seven unanswered goals at one point that gave them an 8-1 lead and left little doubt about the game's outcome.

With the score tied 1-1 late in the first quarter, Tom Herold pumped in a goal on an Evan Albertson assist that put Wooster ahead 2-1 and kick started its 7-0 scoring run.

The Scots were consistent, scoring three goals in the second and third quarters and four in the fourth, which included tallies from seven different players.

Tom Herold stood out with a hat trick, which pushed his season goal total up to 10, and he also added his eighth assist of the year. Tom's brother Josh Herold scored twice, as did Pat McKay, while CJ Polak, PJ Dallman, Niall Cronin, and Pat Henderson chipped in the other goals. Polak's was the first of his career.

Matt Magoon (6 saves) and Aaron Levy (7 saves) split time at the goalkeeper position, while Sean Hohan caused three turnovers and Albertson scooped up four groundballs to lead Wooster in those categories.

The Scots will look to make it six in a row when they visit Trine University (0-4) next Wednesday.
