The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team is off to its best start in program history and junior Tom Herold has been a big part of that achievement, including last week, when he had a hand in eight goals while leading the Fighting Scots to a pair of wins on his way to North Coast Athletic Conference Player-of-the-Week honors.

Early in the week against Trine University, Herold scored a career-high five goals and passed out an assist, all during the first half, of a dominant 16-2 victory. He scored three of those goals in a 4:20 span in the second quarter which put Wooster ahead 11-1.

Then in a history-making win over Albion College that gave the Scots their first-ever 7-0 start, Herold added another two goals, with his second putting the team up 6-5 early in the fourth quarter of an eventual 7-6 triumph.

Herold paces Wooster and is tied for third in the NCAC with 26 points coming on 17 goals and 11 assists.

The Scots will have their biggest challenge to date on Wednesday evening when they host fifth-ranked Denison University (7-0, 0-0 NCAC) at John P. Papp Stadium at 7 p.m.
