WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team fired in 10 unanswered goals before the midway point of the second quarter, then using a lineup of mostly freshmen the rest of the way, it tacked on 10 more to roll past Hiram College 20-4 during North Coast Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

Wooster (6-1, 2-0 NCAC) found Pat McKay early, as the sophomore netted three point-blank shots, two assisted by Josh Herold and one by Tom Herold, for a 3-0 lead 6:16 into play. Then, it was the Herold brothers connecting with each other, as Tom assisted Josh's goal at the midpoint of the first quarter.

A late flurry to the opening quarter put the Fighting Scots ahead 7-0. McKay assisted a Matt Parmelee tally and Josh Herold scored one goal and assisted on another to Pat Henderson, all three coming during the last 1:30 of the period.

Tom Herold got into the goal column 23 seconds into the second, with a helper from McKay, followed by Josh Herold again being part of back-to-back scores, first an assist to Nate Weltman and then converting a pass from Parmelee. The latter goal made it 10-0 Wooster at the 7:51 mark of the second.

Hiram (2-4, 0-2 NCAC) finally halted the run, and it was 11-2 at halftime.

Seven of the Scots' nine goals during the second half were scored by first-years – two apiece for Alexander Bloom and Aidan Crowe and one each for Mike Flynn, Nate Goodin, and Jack Templeton – as they cruised to the 16-point winning margin.

Other keys to the victory included winning 20-of-28 face-offs, with Erik Barroso and Max Rubin both going 8-for-11, Wooster's man-down unit killing 9-of-10 penalties, and Sean Hohan leading the defense with six groundballs and three caused turnovers.

The Scots utilized all four of their goalies, with first-year Tyler LaCroix making a team-high four saves, all during the third quarter.

Wooster will now hit the road for its next six contests, starting on Sunday with a trip to northeast Ohio foe University of Mount Union (2-3).
