The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team moved to 5-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play with an 11-9 victory over DePauw University on Saturday afternoon at Reavis Field in Greencastle, Ind.

The senior duo of Josh Herold and Matt Parmelee accounted for a total of six goals and four assists while juniors Jack Gilio and Erik Barroso came away with six groundballs each, including a game-high four caused turnovers from Gilio.

Of note, Gilio's 66 groundballs marks the fourth-most single-season total in program history, while Herold's five-point performance moves him into sixth-place among the program's all-time point leaders (179).

DePauw (6-4, 1-3 North Coast Athletic Conference) opened the game's scoring just north of the eight-minute mark with a tally from William Dorger. However, that would be the only lead of the day enjoyed by the Tigers, as Wooster (9-5, 5-0 NCAC) fired back with five straight goals – all from different players – to take a 5-1 lead nearly five minutes into the second period.

The Tigers sandwiched a tally from Parmelee with two pairs of goals to crawl back within one (6-5) at the 11:28 mark in the third period. Later on, goals from senior CJ Polak and Herold bookended another from Dorger to make it an 8-6 Wooster advantage heading into the fourth period.

Dorger completed the hat trick just over three minutes into the final stanza, but Wooster stood firm, and in response, posted three straight tallies within an 88-second span to reclaim a commanding 11-7 lead with 8:26 left to play. DePauw managed to cut it to two (11-9) with :26 remaining but couldn't complete the comeback, as the Scots extended their best conference start in program history.

DePauw's leading scorer, Steen Jorgensen, was limited to one goal. Meanwhile, Wooster first-year Noah Plotkin put in an impressive defensive performance with three groundballs and three caused turnovers.

First-year goalkeeper Wesley Wagner totaled seven saves and Barroso was 12-for-22 on faceoffs. As a team, Wooster outshot DePauw 63-33, including a 22-6 advantage in the third period.
