Matt Parmelee

The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team had a quintet of All-North Coast Athletic Conference honorees with senior Matt Parmelee leading the way with a first-team certificate, the league office announced Wednesday. Junior Jack Gilio, senior Josh Herold, and sophomore Ethan Scully earned second-team certificates, while junior Sam Kuhn was an honorable mention recipient.

Parmelee, the first first-team all-conference pick for the Fighting Scots since 2013, earned his second all-conference citation after being a second-team selection a year ago. This season, the South Glastonbury, Conn. native ranked second on the team in points (52), goals (31), and assists (21) from his offensive middie role. In league play, Parmelee led the Scots with 19 goals and was second with 28 points. Notable, he's the first Wooster midfielder to earn a first-team certificate since alumnus Matt Pullara did so in 2011.

Gilio, the 14th three-time All-NCAC honoree in program history, moved up to second-team laurels after earning an honorable mention certificate last year. The long-stick middie scooped up 77 groundballs and paired that with a league-best 40 caused turnovers. This season, Gilio became the fourth player in program history to surpass 200 career groundballs, and he's the only player in program history to have over 70 groundballs in a season twice since that became an officially tracked statistic in 1999.

Herold capped his career with his first all-conference certificate.  The attacker from nearby Massillon, Ohio, led Wooster in points (62), goals (33), and assists (29), while finishing his career at 98 assists and 97 goals – totals third and seventh respectively in program history. This season, Herold contributed at least three points in 15 of Wooster's 18 games.

Scully also picked up his first all-conference laurel. The Novelty, Ohio native continued to rate as one of the premier defenders in the conference, and he's tied for third in the NCAC and second on the team with 30 caused turnovers. Additionally, Scully was one of four Scots with at least 40 groundballs on the season.

Kuhn ranked third on Wooster's team in scoring for the second straight year, and turned in 44 points in 2017. The Towson, Md. native pumped in 29 goals on the season, two above the team-leading 27 he scored a year ago. This season, the midfielder took on a larger role in the distribution of the offense as he passed out a career-high 15 helpers.

Notable, this is the first time the Scots had at least five representatives on the all-conference squads since 2014.

Wooster finished its season at 9-9, turned in a program-best 5-0 start in NCAC play, tied its season record for conference wins with five, and advanced to the NCAC Tournament for the second straight year.
