The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team participated in the eighth-annual Burning River Lacrosse "Crosse Out Cancer!" Showcase on Sunday, Oct. 8, to benefit the Comprehensive Breast Oncology Program at the Cleveland Clinic.

Fifteen men's teams and six women's teams took part in the intercollegiate scrimmage showcase held at the Johnson Controls Hall of Fall Village Sports Complex in North Canton, Ohio.

Noah Parker, a senior on the College's men's lacrosse team, was honored as the guest speaker for the yearly event dedicated to raising money and awareness for breast cancer research. Parker, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., lost his mother to breast cancer after originally being diagnosed when he was five years old.

A student-manager during the 2017 season, Parker delivered a 10-minute speech to a group of players and other attendees. In all, 1,971 fans, players, and volunteers were in attendance throughout the day, with over $24,500 raised through sponsorships, donations, t-shirt and sweatshirt sales, ticket sales, food truck sales, and individual fundraising efforts from the participating teams.

"We really appreciate everyone who came out to support this year's fundraiser and made this a great day for the Northern Ohio lacrosse community," said Woody Calleri, Director of Burning River Lacrosse. "We are thrilled to have exceeded our fundraising and attendance goals of $20,000 and 1,500 attendees."
