Colorado College scored a pair of quick goals and never looked back, as The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team dropped its spring trip opener 24-7 against the Tigers on Monday afternoon at Washburn Field in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Colorado College (5-1), which has five straight NCAA Div. III Championships appearances to its credit, came out of the gate swinging as Parker Woo and Robbie Stern staked the host Tigers to a 2-0 lead prior to Wooster (3-2) worked its way into a quality offensive position for the first time on the afternoon.

Wooster, which has already squared off against three of the 34 2017 NCAA Div. III Championships qualifying teams on the young season, turned to its bread-and-butter for its first goal of the afternoon. Senior Sam Kuhn tallied his team-leading 16th score of the year with 7:28 left in the opening period. Kuhn's younger brother, Cullen Kuhn, scored Wooster's other first-half tally with just under 10 minutes left before halftime.

In the second half, senior Desmond Hughes took charge during the Scots' best stretch of the day in the scoring column. The attacker book-ended a 3-0 run with his first two goals of the season, and all three of the Scots' scores came within 1:43.

Senior Alexander Bloom and Sam Kuhn closed out the Black and Gold's scoring with two straight goals to start the fourth period.

While the score didn't go the Scots way, Wooster was right there with Colorado College in two statistical categories - groundballs and faceoffs. In the groundball department, Colorado College finished with a slight 35-33 advantage. Individually, Wooster first-year Connor Mangan's team-high six groundballs were backed up by senior Jack Gilio's five.

Additionally, the two teams nearly split the 35 faceoffs with the Tigers edging out the Scots 18-17.

Colorado College was paced by Coby Petau's seven goals and two assists, Andrew Harwood's 16 saves, and Woo's 11 faceoff wins and eight groundballs.

Next, Wooster remains in Colorado to take on Kean University (3-0) on Wednesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. EDT.
