USILA Academic Awards Release

Shaun Peirce, a 2021 College of Wooster alumnus and four-year starter at attack for the Fighting Scots' men's lacrosse team, earned United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-American honors, as announced by the coaching organization on Friday.

Peirce, one of the top players in program history, finished his standout career with 121 goals, with that total ranking as the sixth-most in program history. The three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference honoree exploded onto the scene with 32 goals as a first-year, with that ranking as the highest total by a Wooster rookie since Mark Weschler's 34 in 2006. As a sophomore, Peirce tied Wooster's 29-year-old school record with 51 goals and became just the third player in program history to log a 50-goal season. This spring, Peirce led the team with 25 goals, and capped his career with eight scores against Allegheny College.

The business economics alumnus was a two-time USILA Team of the Week honoree, earned one NCAC Athlete of the Week certificate, and was a three-time qualifier on the NCAC Academic Honor Roll.

Peirce is Wooster's third USILA Scholar All-American. To qualify, you must be nominated by your head coach, be a student with a senior year academic standing, have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field, and must be an All-American, a member of a North/South all-star team, or be an outstanding conference player. A selection committee evaluates each nominee on a case-by-case basis to make sure all the criteria warrant Scholar All-America honors.
