Scots Take Over in Second Half for First Win of Season

Fink and DiLeo The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season Saturday with an 8-4 win over Otterbein University.

The Scots used a six-goal second half to overcome a one goal deficit at halftime. Senior Ben Kennedy led the second half surge with three goals.

Otterbein sophomore Aidan Moore scored all four goals for the Cardinals. He carried his team early with the only two goals of the first quarter.

Wooster got on the board in the second quarter whilst a man down as Charlie Ballou scored his first of two goals. The Scots then tied it about three minutes later a man up as Will Fink scored off an assist from Ryan You.

Moore scored again to close the quarter to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead at halftime. He opened scoring in the third, but that was Otterbein's final score of the game as Wooster would score six unanswered.

Kennedy connected on back-to-back goals to tie the game. Ballou scored his second to put Wooster up 5-4.

With 24 seconds left in the quarter, Ben Byars scored off Vinny DiLeo's second assist of the day. DiLeo then got in on the scoring in the fourth off an assist from Ballou before Kennedy wrapped the scoring up with six minutes to play.

Otterbein ended up outshooting the Scots 37-35. Wooster won 10-of-15 faceoffs and had 30 ground balls to Otterbein's 29.

Adam Meyer played the first half in net and made seven saves. Paul Chandler played the second and made three saves for the win.

Wooster moves to 1-1 while Otterbein remains winless at 0-2. The Scots return to action Wednesday with a trip to Capital University.
