Steffen Back on USILA Team of the Week

Casey Steffen, Wooster lacrosse The College of Wooster's Casey Steffen caused havoc all last week, helping the Fighting Scots' men's lacrosse team to the program's first 10-0 start and first 10-game winning streak. The junior's 7.0 groundballs and 5.5 caused turnovers per game placed him on the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Team of the Week for the second time this season.

Steffen, who leads NCAA Div. III in caused turnovers per game at 4.2, caused a career-high seven in last Wednesday's 17-11 win at the University of Mount Union. That win marked Wooster's ninth straight, matching the program's longest winning streak, which spanned parts of the 1983 and 1984 seasons.

Steffen added four caused turnovers in Saturday's 11-7 win over Oberlin College, as the program extended its winning streak to 10. On the week, Steffen had 14 groundballs and three assists, and he broke the program's single-season record with his 41st caused turnover in the Oberlin win.

Steffen's first USILA Team of the Week selection came on March 7, following wins over Capital University and State University of New York Brockport.

Wooster (1-0 North Coast Athletic Conference), one of six remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Div. III, will look to make it 11 straight victories when the Scots visit DePauw University (4-3, 0-0 NCAC) for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday.
