DiLeo Nets Five as Scots Jump Out Early for Win Over Mount Union

The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team got back in the win column Saturday with a dominating 20-4 win over the University of Mount Union.

The Scots set the tone early, scoring the first 11 goals of the game, including a perfect 9-0 first quarter.

Senior Vinny DiLeo scored a season-high five goals to lead the Scots, including scoring four of the first 11. He netted career goal 100, becoming the ninth player in program history to hit the milestone.

Sophomore Lane Kellogg had an all-around solid performance with four goals, three assists and three groundballs. Kellogg has now tallied a multi-goal game in the first six games of the season.

Austin Jourde and Evan Laudenslager also added a pair of goals each. For Laudenslager, it was the first collegiate points for the first year.

Also reaching the scoring column with a goal each was Colton BeaudoinWill FinkBaird HruskaRory ZahrenRowan PianiLuke Budd and Shane Epstein-Petrullo.

It was the first goals of the year for Beaudoin and Hruska, which was also Hruska's first collegiate.

Casey Steffen caused a handful of turnovers and groundballs with five each. Jimmy Fisher led the team with nine groundballs, and Zahren recorded eight.

Three shared time in goal as Paul Chandler made five saves in 35:31 to collect his fifth win.

Wooster won 24 of 28 faceoffs and went 2 of 3 in man up opportunities. Wooster also cleared the ball successfully 15 of 20 times.

The Scots forced 31 Mount Union turnovers and held them to a 50 percent clearing percentage (16 of 32).

Wooster improves to 5-1 while Mount Union moves to 3-2.

Wooster's next stop is Virgina Beach, Va. where they were face Ithaca College on Wednesday.
