Wooster Drops Road Contest at Cabrini, 15-7

Bill Holtzer, Wooster Lacrosse RADNOR, Pennsylvania – Junior Will Fink and sophomore Lane Kellogg scored twice and passed out an assist for The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team in a 15-7 loss at Cabrini University on Saturday.

Wooster (5-3) could not get going at the onset, as Cabrini (6-2) scored six unanswered goals in the first period. Fink found junior Colton Beaudoin to get the Fighting Scots on the board at the second period's 11:16 mark. Wooster found some momentum from there, outscoring Cabrini 3-2 in the period. Wooster's other second-period goals came from sophomore Luke Budd and Kellogg.

Wooster showed a spark late, scoring three unanswered goals near the final stanza's midpoint. Sophomore Austin Jourde found Kellogg for the first score, which was followed up by goals from Fink and junior JoJo Jordan.

Long pole standouts Bill Holtzer and Casey Steffen were among Wooster's defensive leaders on the stat sheet. Holtzer scooped up four groundballs to pair with three caused turnovers, while Steffen was credited with three groundballs and a pair of caused turnovers. One of Holtzer's caused turnovers led to Wooster scoring. The Jourde-to-Kellogg goal came within 30 seconds of Holtzer causing the Max Morosoff turnover.

Jourde finished with a two-point game, with both coming on assists. Senior Paul Chandler's 11 saves were one off a season-high, and he was credited with a team-high six groundballs. Holtzer and Kellogg followed with four groundballs each.

Dillon McManus led Cabrini with three goals and three assists. John McCormick was 19-of-26 on faceoffs and led the game with nine groundballs. Matt Williams logged three of Cabrini's 13 caused turnovers.

Cabrini outshot Wooster 50-39 and had 51 groundballs to the Scots' 37, courtesy of a 19-7 edge in faceoffs.
