Terriers Prove No Problem for Scots

Vinny DiLeo, Wooster Lacrosse The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team stayed perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday after tripling up Hiram College with a 24-8 win.

After the two teams traded goals, Wooster took control, scoring the next eight goals before being answered in the second quarter. By halftime, the Scots led 14-3.

From there, the Scots kept the pressure on with a quarter-high nine goals in the third and an even 1-1 mark in the fourth.

Vinny DiLeo led the Scots with five goals, four of which came in the opening frame. 

Dileo also added three assists, which puts him one shy of 100 for his career.

Lane Kellogg and Will Fink each recorded four goals. Kellogg added a game-high five assists, and Fink dished out a pair as well.

Colton Beaudoin tallied three goals, while Austin Jourde and Ben Byars added two each. Baird HruskaRowan PianiLuke Budd and Luke Peter all scored one goal each. For Peter, his goal was the last of the game, and it was his first of the season.

Sam Green had two assists, as did Riley Schulze.

Jimmy Fisher led the team with 10 groundballs. He also was 15-of-26 in his faceoff opportunities. Casey Steffen secured a team-high four caused turnovers.

Jason Astle and Théo Weidinger split time in goal. Astle made nine saves to collect the win, while Weidinger made four saves.

Wooster (9-3, 3-0 NCAC) took an overwhelmingly number of shots with 66 to Hiram's 27. Wooster also held a 37-18 advantage in groundballs.

Wooster moves to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the NCAC. Hiram drops to 4-6 and 0-3 in conference play.

Next, the Scots will celebrate senior day when they take on Oberlin College on Saturday.
