Men’s Lacrosse Stays Perfect in NCAC play

The College of Wooster men's lacrosse team honored its seniors on Saturday and stayed perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference action as they defeated Oberlin College 17-11.

The Scots held off a late push by the Yeomen, but Wooster's effort in the first half paid dividends thanks to an 11-4 lead at halftime.

The energy surrounding senior day lifted Wooster to scoring the game's first two goals as Ben Byars and Will Fink each found the back of the net.

Senior Vinny DiLeo completed a milestone, recording his 100th career assist on the first goal. He currently sits third all-time in program history.

After Oberlin got one back, DiLeo promptly scored his only goal of the game to put Wooster ahead 3-1. Oberlin tied it at 3-3, but with two minutes left in the quarter, that was all Wooster would need to score three goals to lead 6-3.

Will FinkSutton Ursillo and Byars all found the back of the net, as the three goals were the start of Wooster scoring eight unanswered to take an 11-3 lead late into the second quarter.

The two teams traded goals in the third and the fourth. Wooster's final goal was a stadium shaker as senior Pat Hrabak, off an assist from Jimmy Paranzino, scored his first goal of the season and the fifth of his career.

Lane Kellogg scored four of his team-leading five goals in the second half. Fink ended right behind with four goals himself.

Kellogg also led the way with three assists. Oberlin had two players score four goals each via Solomon Brennan and Christian Tacogue.

Senior Paul Chandler played the entire game in goal, making eight saves.

Wooster collected 35 groundballs to Oberlin's 31, led by 10 from Jimmy Fisher.

Fisher is now at 107 groundballs on the season, inching closer to the program single season record of 116. His 14 faceoff wins also puts him five shy of tying the career record.

Wooster was a perfect 18 of 18 on clears attempts while Oberlin was 16 of 26. The Scots also outshot the Yeomen (8-5, 2-3 NCAC) 54-34.

Wooster is now 10-3 overall and 4-0 in the NCAC. They will host Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday.
