Scott Buckwald scored two goals just 7:07 apart in the second
half, lifting The College of Wooster to a 2-1 victory over host
Earlham College Saturday in North Coast Athletic Conference
men's soccer action at Richmond, Ind.
In picking up it second conference road win of the week, Wooster
(6-6-1, 3-2-0 NCAC) moves into a second-place tie in the NCAC
standings, as the Fighting Scots look to finish among the top-four
for the regular season, and thus earn a bid to the NCAC
Tournament.
On Saturday, Earlham (8-5, 0-3 NCAC) got on the scoreboard a mere
6:01 into the action and it remained 1-0 all the way until the 62nd
minute. Then, Buckwald knocked in his 10th career goal via an
assist from Brenton Allen. Buckwald would score unassisted during
the 69th minute and the defense maintained the lead the rest of the
way, with goalie Taylor Takacs tallying five saves for the
match.
Buckwald accounted for all three of Wooster's goals during
the week, giving him a team-high seven on the season.
The Scots are off until next Saturday when they welcome first-place
Ohio Wesleyan University (10-4, 4-0 NCAC) to Carl Dale Memorial
Field at 3:30 p.m.
