Otterbein College held off visiting College of Wooster 1-0 in a
men's soccer defensive battle on Wednesday afternoon at
Westerville, Ohio, as the Cardinals found an opening during the
second half for the match's lone goal.
After a scoreless first half that featured just 10 shots and four
corner kicks between the two squads, Otterbein (2-2) took advantage
of an opportunity early in the second. Awarded a corner kick in the
54th minute, the Cardinals' Greg Atkinson delivered the ball
into the box where Byron Horton headed it in.
In goal, freshman Taylor Takacs played the first 45 minutes, making
four saves to keep the Scots (1-3-1) within striking distance,
while Jordan O'Boyle registiered three saves during the second
half. Their counterpart, David Dziedzicki, stopped three balls to
preserve the shutout.
Next, Wooster will be back home for a match against John Carroll
University (3-0) Saturday at 5 p.m.
