After losing two of its last three games in large part to
penalty kicks, The College of Wooster won one in similar fashion at
Oberlin College Tuesday night, as Scott Buckwald's conversion
during the 54th minute turned out to be the North Coast Athletic
Conference contest's lone score.
The first half featured 12 shots being taken between the two teams,
but none found its mark. Early in the second, Oberlin (7-6, 1-2
NCAC) was whistled for a foul and Buckwald calmly delivered the
shot from 12 yards out past the 'keeper. It marked
Buckwald's fifth goal this season and ninth of his career,
but first coming via a penalty kick.
Wooster (5-6-1, 2-2-0 NCAC) hung on for the victory, with freshman
'keeper Taylor Takacs preserving the shutout via four
saves.
The Scots will be on the road again this Saturday when they play at
Earlham College (8-4, 0-2 NCAC) at 3 p.m.
