Scots Play No. 2 Ranked Bishops Close, Eventually Fall 2-1

The College of Wooster men's soccer team played nationally-ranked Ohio Wesleyan University to a 1-1 draw through 78 minutes, but the No. 2 Battling Bishops came through with the decisive score and hung on for the 2-1 decision in a lid-lifter to the North Coast Athletic Conference season Saturday night at Delaware, Ohio.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Wooster (2-5-1, 0-1-0 NCAC) evened the scoreboard when Matt Parmelee blasted in a shot from outside the box during the 65th minute. It marked the freshman's first collegiate goal.

The game-winner came in the 79th minute as Brian Schafer of Ohio Wesleyan (11-0, 1-0 NCAC) converted a cross.

The Fighting Scots made a push for overtime, recording the game's last two shots, both by Lucas Hunt, however, each attempt was high.

Defensively, Wooster continued to evenly split time between goalies Matthew Canter and Aaron McKee, and each registered three saves and one goal allowed during their respective halves.

Next Saturday, the Scots host No. 9 ranked DePauw University (10-0-1, 1-0-1 NCAC) at 5 p.m.
