The College of Wooster men's soccer team extended its win streak to three, using a single goal to defeat Hiram College 1-0 during the North Coast Athletic Conference foes' match-up Wednesday night in Hiram, Ohio.

The game's lone score came relatively early, as Kieffer Hessler headed one in during the 16th minute, courtesy of a double assist from CJ Polak and Philip Charnley. For Hessler, a freshman, it marked his first collegiate goal, and it also was Polak's and Charnley's first assist of the season. Charnley has been part of three of the team's five goals during its current winning streak.

Earlier, Matt Ehrenburg nearly gave Wooster (5-9-1, 3-5-0 NCAC) a 1-0 lead, but his shot glanced off the post.

The Fighting Scots' defense made the one goal hold up, as it only yielded seven shots all game to Hiram (5-12-1, 2-6-0 NCAC), including just two the entire second half. Starting 'keeper Matthew Canter made one save during the first, then Aaron McKee preserved the team's fourth shutout of the season.

Wooster concludes 2013 with a game at Wabash College (3-11-2, 1-6-1 NCAC) Saturday.
