WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster dominated possession throughout Saturday afternoon's rainy men's soccer tilt with Earlham College, as the Fighting Scots limited the Quakers to four total shots en route to a 1-0 shutout victory on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

On a day where the defense took center stage, it was fitting that a defender accounted for the lone score. Wooster (3-1) earned back-to-back corner kicks midway through the first half, and on the second, CJ Polak delivered the ball about 10 yards out in front of the goal and to the right of the far post, where Lucas Hunt headed it back left to Matthew Kelly, who headed it into an open left side of the net. It marked Kelly's second goal this season.

While the Scots attempted seven shots during the first half and five in the second, many in the second were high-quality chances as they nearly gained a two-goal margin. Specifically, Polak rocketed a shot from about 25 yards out that was only denied by the post in the 65th minute, and shortly thereafter, he sent another corner to Hunt, who headed the open opportunity wide.

Earlham (0-3-1) pressed up field late, eventually getting a look at its first corner kick with just over a minute left, however, the attempt sailed harmlessly to the opposite sideline as Wooster clinched its second-straight win.

Recording his first career shutout was junior goalkeeper Daniel Quinn, who made two saves on the four shots allowed.

The Scots will try to keep rolling on Wednesday when they host Heidelberg University at 7:30 p.m.
