The College of Wooster surrendered two goals during a 1:04 spurt midway through the first half which proved too much to overcome in a 3-0 setback to Capital University on Wednesday in men's soccer action at Columbus, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots fired off the first two shots of the game, as Lucas Hunt sailed an attempt wide and Matt Ehrenburg had one saved by the goalkeeper. After weathering Wooster's early attack, Capital mounted its own, with a couple misfires before its game-changing stretch.

At the 22:32 mark, the Crusaders scored off a cross into the box, and then just over a minute later, they scored again on a strong individual effort that put Wooster at a sudden 2-0 disadvantage.

Capital added to its cushion about two minutes into the second half, when it drove home a rebound goal from a ball that had deflected off the post, but soon after that Wooster began to gain momentum.

Down 3-0, the Scots became the aggressor, as Patrick Pickering, Ehrenburg, and Matthew Kelly all delivered shots that just missed the mark during a four-minute barrage.

Wooster nearly lit the scoreboard again late in the half, but Hunt's good-look smashed into the crossbar.

The Scots, who had let up just four goals over their previous four games, will look to get back on track when they travel to La Roche College (4-2) on Saturday for a 3 p.m. start.
