The College of Wooster and DePauw University combined to score seven times in a high-scoring North Coast Athletic Conference match-up, but the home-standing Tigers had more firepower, as they took down the Fighting Scots 5-2 on Saturday at Greencastle, Ind.

Not since the 2012 season, or 32 games ago, had the Scots (3-6-1, 0-2 NCAC) allowed so many goals in a game. The Tigers (7-4-0, 2-1 NCAC) had an uncharacteristic performance as well, as today marked only the second time this season they had given up two or more goals in 11 contests.

DePauw took a three-goal advantage in the 33rd minute, when Julian Gonzalez scored his first of three goals on the afternoon to make it 3-0. The Scots drew within two at the halftime break, though, as Matthew Kelly scored his team-leading fourth goal this fall on an assist from Marco Sapien.

Just minutes into the second stanza, Gonzalez scored his second goal, and then later in the 72nd minute he completed his hat trick to put DePauw well out in front at 5-1. Wooster didn't stop fighting, as Zach Jergan beat the 'keeper on a penalty kick at the 79:54 mark to finish off the scoring. For Jergan, a senior who has played all over the pitch this season, it marked his second career goal.

On the stat sheet, Wooster led in corner kick attempts, 5-4, but was outshot 12-5. Goalkeeper Alex Molinari made a career-high seven saves in the setback.

Wooster will visit unbeaten Kenyon College (9-0, 1-0 NCAC) next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
