Goals late in the first half and early in the second spurred The College of Wooster men's soccer team to a dominant 4-0 victory at Bluffton University on Wednesday in Bluffton, Ohio.

The four-goal differential marked Wooster's largest margin of victory since early in the 2012 season.

Wooster (2-4-1) peppered Bluffton (0-4) with 11 first-half shots, but it was still scoreless into the 45th minute. Then, freshman Alex Montalbano found the back of the net, connecting on a feed from Lucas Hunt. It marked Montalbano's first collegiate goal.

The Fighting Scots carried over that momentum, as Marco Sapien scored unassisted – his second goal of the year – just 1:18 into the second stanza.

It stayed 2-0 until midway through the half when Wooster sealed the outcome with two more goals during a short time period. In the 63rd minute, Hunt assisted on another first-time goal scorer, this time sophomore midfielder Maxwell Clement, and in the 68th minute, the Scots were awarded a penalty kick, with senior defender Sheamus Dalton converting for his third career goal.

Defensively, Scot Stacho notched his first career shutout with six saves.

Wooster will take the pitch again on Saturday afternoon at Earlham College (1-3).
