With Goals Nearly Eighty-Nine Minutes Apart, Wooster Shuts Out Panthers 2-0

The College of Wooster men's soccer team started and finished on a strong note against the University of Pitt.-Bradford, tallying a pair of goals nearly 89 minutes apart from each other en route to a commanding 2-0 win over the host Panthers on Saturday afternoon at Bradford, Pa.

Just 46 seconds in, junior Andrew Klein netted the game-winner off the feed from sophomore Manny Burton. Nearly 89 minutes later, sophomore Paulo Nunes sealed the win with his first collegiate goal, aided by the assist from junior Austin Russell.

The Fighting Scots (3-2) finished the game with 19 shots, including eight on frame. Klein led the squad with five total shots, followed by Nunes with three. Meanwhile, the Panthers totaled just three shots all game, two of which landed on target.

Each of the Scots' three wins this season have been via shutout, as sophomore goalkeeper Will Collis' improved his save percentage to .885, the best mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Additionally, Collis' goals-against average of 0.60 stands as the second-lowest average in the league while Burton ranks second in the NCAC in points with 6 (2 goals, 2 assists).

Through Thursday, Sept. 7, Collis stood as one of 36 goalkeepers in NCAA Div. III to have recorded at least two shutouts on the year.

As a team, Wooster's goals-against average ranks second in the NCAC behind Kenyon (0.50) while the Scots stand tied with the Lords at the top of the conference in total shots with 72.
