First-year Wilson Freiji tallied his first game-winner and second goal of the year to lift The College of Wooster men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Earlham College on Saturday afternoon at Richmond, Ind.

Above .500 once again, Wooster (4-3) waited until the 60th minute to claim the win, coming in the form of a header by Freiji off a corner kick from junior Austin Russell. The assist marked Russell's second of the season and sixth of his career.

Senior goalkeeper Scot Stacho earned the start in goal for Wooster, helping lead the Scots to their fourth shutout of the season. Of note, each of Wooster' four wins has come via shutout.

Statistically, Stacho finished with two saves as Earlham (0-5) managed nine shots in all. Wooster fired off 15 shots, seven of which landed on target.

Sophomore Paulo Nunes tallied two shots on frame to lead the team while first-year Max Hill totaled a game-high four shots.

From the corner, Wooster edged the Quakers, 6-5.

The Scots continue non-conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 20, as they travel south to Bexley, Ohio for a showdown with Capital University, the seventh-ranked team in the United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes Region. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
