Wooster Men's Soccer Team Garners Second Straight National Academic Award

The College of Wooster men's soccer team was honored with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for its collective off-the-field performance during the 2016-17 academic year, according to an announcement by the organization on Thursday afternoon.

This year marks the second straight nod for the men's team and third in the last five years. Wooster was one of 283 men's soccer programs to receive the award. Of that total, Wooster was one of 197 schools and just one of two North Coast Athletic Conference members (Oberlin) to have both the men's and women's teams recognized.

To qualify, the team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.

Individually, four Wooster student-athletes were named to last year's NCAC Honor Roll, including senior captain Bob Beall. Wooster's collective team GPA was 3.01.
