Scots Fall Victim to Last-Second Goal as Wittenberg Tops Wooster 1-0

Alex Montalbano

Wittenberg University's Jacob Snowden scored with seven seconds remaining in regulation to clinch a 1-0 victory over The College of Wooster on Saturday afternoon at Edwards-Maurer Field in Springfield, Ohio.

Wooster (6-6, 1-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) fired four shots in the first half and five on the game. Wittenberg (4-7-1, 2-1 NCAC) stayed unbeaten at home through four games thanks to an increased offensive presence in the game's latter stages, which witnessed six shots, including four on target, in the final 45 minutes.

Prior to his 89th-minute tally, late-sub Snowden came close five minutes earlier with a shot on target before eventually sinking the game-winner moments later.

Wooster goalkeeper Will Collis, meanwhile, finished with four saves while Wooster held the corner kick advantage 3-0.

Sophomore Manny Burton led the Fighting Scots with three shots, followed by solo tallies from juniors Austin Russell and Alex Montalbano.

Up next, Wooster plays host to Kenyon College on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. at Carl Dale Memorial Field.
