Manny Burton

First-team selection Will Collis and honorable mention honoree Manny Burton were named to the 2017 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Team, per a league announcement on Friday morning.

Collis, a sophomore goalkeeper out of Upper Arlington, Ohio, became the first Fighting Scot since Adam Champman in 2006 to earn first-time honors after posting top-five rankings league-wide in save percentage (.779) and total saves (67) while recording a 1.24 goals-against average, good for sixth overall. Of Wooster's six victories – a two-win improvement over last year – Collis earned five of them, all in shutout fashion, including a 2-0 win over DePauw University (Sept. 23) to go along with 0-0 double-overtime draw at Denison University (Oct. 21). The award marks the first of Collis' career.

Burton's speed and athleticism proved a vital piece of the Scots' offense this year, as the sophomore forward from Carnegie, Pa. led the team in goals (4) and assists (4). After opening the season with a goal and an assist in Wooster's 3-0 victory over Washington & Jefferson College (Sept. 2), Burton tallied the game-winning header against the University of Mount Union (Sept. 5). Against eventual conference tournament champion Ohio Wesleyan University (Sept. 30), the sophomore tallied his first career goal in NCAC play with an equalizer in the 74th minute. Additionally, Burton scored the game's opener at Hiram College (Oct. 17) and delivered a throw-in assist in the second half against Allegheny College (Oct. 25). The award marks the first of Burton's career.
