The College of Wooster men's tennis team was right there with Walsh University in nearly every match, but in the end, the Fighting Scots walked away with just two wins in singles competition in a 7-2 setback Tuesday at the D.J. Hard Memorial Courts in Wooster, Ohio.

The Scots (1-1) played well in doubles action, although they couldn't secure a victory, as they came up short in three closely-contested matches, including a narrow 8-6 loss by the No. 1 pairing of Landon Moore and Nick Biniker.

It was in singles action where the Scots got their victories, as Milo Saurman outlasted his opponent 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) at the second spot and Jack Buchan won rather convincingly at No. 6 (6-2, 7-5).

Willy Nelson and John Schulz both forced third sets with their opponents at the third- and fifth-spots, respectively, but were ultimately edged out in competitive battles.

Next, the Scots will be represented by a handful of student-athletes at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Div. III Central Region Championships Sept. 27-30.
