A pair of tough draws greeted The College of Wooster's Milo Saurman and Willy Nelson at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Div. III Central Region Championships, hosted at Kalamazoo College this weekend, but the Fighting Scots still came back with some notable results as they wrapped up the competitive portion of their fall season.

Saurman faced the No. 11 seed in the first round of the singles' 128-player bracket. He won seven games, extending Denison University's Casey Cempre to 6-4, 6-3, then produced a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory in the back draw before being eliminated.

Similarly, Saurman and Nelson were paired against the 14th-seeded doubles team during the opening round of that competition. The Wooster duo fell 8-4 versus the University of Chicago, and bounced back to earn an 8-2 win in a back draw match, followed by an 8-3 setback.

In addition, Nelson was part of the Kalamazoo Collegiate Championships as a singles player. He dropped a tough three-setter in the first round (6-3, 2-6, 6-3), then in the back draw, easily prevailed twice, 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0.

The Scots will return to competition in February.
