The College of Wooster men's tennis team nearly completed a perfect sweep over Franciscan University of Steubenville, as it won all six singles matches and lost just one doubles match that needed a tiebreaker to decide it en route to an 8-1 victory on Tuesday at Steubenville, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots (7-6) paired up Harrison Suttle and Jacob Pine at No. 1 doubles for just the second time this season and the duo competed in a lengthy battle that saw Franciscan (7-7) come away with a narrow 9-8 (7-4) triumph.

It wasn't nearly as competitive at the other two doubles spots, as Willy Nelson and John Schulz won 8-0 at No. 2 and Jack Buchan and Davis Elkins improved to 8-4 at No. 3 with another 8-0 decision.

Then the Scots went on to win each singles match, although Nelson's and Suttle's didn't come easy, as they were involved in some highly-competitive tilts at the first (6-7, 6-3, 12-10) and second (7-6, 1-6, 12-10) spots in the lineup, respectively. Besides that, though, Wooster cruised, as Landon Moore, Pine, Buchan, and Paul Thomas gave up just six games combined in dominant showings at Nos. 3-6.

The Scots will return to the court Wednesday when they host Muskingum University at 4 p.m.
